Coral reefs have a wide range of natural, ecological, economic and cultural values. They provide the most voluble marine habitats in Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.  In south Iranian waters especially in Persian Gulf many factors have threatened the life of coral reefs ecosystems. Therefore in the present study restricted factors for living and fossil corals in Persian Gulf were investigated. In this region some destruction factors include climate changes, different diseases, increasing of CO2, ocean acidification, pollutants. With the passage of time, corals growth, and reproduction will be done very slowly. In order to prevent this great disaster, comprehensive research, study of various destructive factors, cause of their extinction in the past and their relation with similar changes predicated for the coming century, could be the most relevant guide for the future.
